Ashton Hayes Primary School
7.30-9pm

Free English Champagne* (for Ashton Hayes residents over 18!) and apple pie for everyone
(*funded by our sponsors)

Come and hear our plans and find out lots more...

Short film ■ hybrid vehicles ■ presentations ■ village maps ■ dedicate-a-tree ■ wind and renewable energy technology ■ local food info ■ elephant grass energy crops ■ recycling ■ biofuels ■ solar panels ■ energy in the home ■ energy-efficient vehicles ■ insulation grants ■ composting ■ climate change information ■ media coverage ■ project plans and 2006 survey programme  ■ sign up for free eco-vehicle driving day (EU financed!)

Come and learn more about the project plans and the village survey. Sip chilled free Chapel Down sparkling 'champagne' (one of the few positive spin offs of global warming!) and eat apple pie (kindly made by the WI) while viewing a short film and four 10 minute presentations from our support organisations. We expect a large turnout for the event and will announce the main venue soon - watch this space.

Hear about the baseline CO2 surveys, starting 8th May 2006 and find out about our designated tree planting areas and other initiatives.

Come and sign up for free 'eco-driving' training, using sustainable transport provided from EU funds.

There will be an opportunity for people to ask questions and make suggestions. We will then ask you to cross over to the WI where you can see a series of exhibits on climate change, green energy and fuels, energy saving and the effect of recycling on emissions and much more.

In the WI you will also be able to sign up for a free, EU funded, eco-vehicle driving day. There are 20 places available under the EU Treatise Scheme and along with instruction you will be able to try out new types of vehicles which will be brought to the village. We also hope to have a PC-based ecodriving simulator at the meeting - so we find out who is the most energy efficient at driving!

The project has generated substantial village support since its inception at the November 2005 Parish Council and we have seen UK-wide publicity for our initiative. To date we have been promised £1800 from local business sponsors towards the launch costs and other support in terms of manpower and demonstration equipment. Shell is also planning to bring along some biofuels and demonstration vehicles and equipment. We shall also have elephant grass on display for farmers interested in growing energy crops.
