January 2014 Activities

23 January: (Left) Joint meeting between Neighbourhood Planning Team, Parish Council and Ashton Hayes Community Energy Company at the Royal Oak in Kelsall to discuss the way forward and implementation aspects of the Neighbourhood plan.

27 January: AHCEC monthly meeting to discuss new PV projects and other items. We agree launch @ashtonhayesCEC twitter feed.


December 2013 Activities

7 December 2013: MSc Students from the University of Chester's Sustainability in Business and Communities Course visit the village to find out about our the 9 year journey of the Going Carbon Neutral Project.

9 December: Ashton Hayes Parish Council Meeting.


November 2013 Activities

21 November: Table top resilience planning exercise with the support of CWAC, Cheshire Polices, NHS, Fire Service and others. A great night to test our plan against a prolonged snow and ice snow and ice scenario (photo). We learned a lot and appreciated the loan of the school hall.

22 November: Natalie Bennett of the UK Green Party arrives on a fact-finding visit about Ashton Hayes.

23 November: Ashton Hayes Community Energy Company holds its AGM.




Meeting with Housing Trust

Members of the PC, AHCEC and Councillor Eleanor Johnson met with Chester & District Housing Trust (part of the Sanctuary Group) to discuss ways of installing PV on the roofs of some of the Housing Trust's properties in the village.


October 2013 Activities

22 October 2013: Kudo Shogo visits from Tokyo University on a fact finding mission of his PhD involving Japanese Community Engagement. (Left: Kudo chats to Kate Harrison about the social enterprises in Ashton Hayes.


17 October: Garry Charnock attends the DECC Community Energy Contact Group meeting at DECC, Whitehall Place 1-1.30pm.

14 October 2013: Garry Charnock to speak at Newcastle Institute for Research on Sustainability (NIReS) event at Newcastle University.
